What is HD Radio®?

HD Radio® is a Digital technology that allows a radio broadcaster to digitally transmit additional data in the same radio wave enabling higher quality sound and the ability to transfer additional content and information. HD Radio® technology makes AM stations have FM-like sound quality, while FM stations can be heard with CD-like sound quality. Unlike typical FM or AM transmission however, HD Radio® has crystal clear reception with low noise and no audio distortion. The best part is that HD Radio is FREE OF CHARGE to you - all you need is a new receiver to experience this new and exciting radio content!

Multicasting - more content and more listening options!

Multicasting allows you to access additional channels on HD radio on any JVC HD Radio receiver. These "stations in between the stations" contain exciting new programming that can't be found on your typical radio stations such as: new radio formats, additional music content, new music genre and talk radio formats, and even experimental content that, until now, have not been heard through other radio broadcast mediums.

iTunes® tagging lets you tag songs that you're listening to on HD Radio so they can be purchased
later from the iTunes® store. When you hear a song you like, all you need to do is hit the TAG button on the
JVC Receiver featuring iTunes tagging, and the Song and Artist information for that track is stored in the receiver. Up to 60 entries can be stored and will automatically transfer to your iPod® or iPhone® once it is plugged into the front USB port. The
next time that your iPod® or iPhone is Synced with iTunes®, your tagged songs will appear in a special "Tagged" playlist. All tagged
songs in the playlist are now available to be previewed or purchased from the iTunes® store!

How it works

  1. When you hear a song you like on the radio, press the "TAG" key to save the information on the head unit.

  2. Information is transferred to your iPod® when you connect to the headunit.

  3. Information is transferred to iTunes® when you sync your iPod® to your computer.

  4. The song shows up on the "Tagged" playlist in iTunes®.

  5. Click on the button to purchase the song from the iTunes® Store.

  6. Enjoy the music!

Bookmark Function

Some songs transmitted over HD radio include Bookmark functions with on-screen QR codes. While a song is playing, you can scan the on-screen code with your smart phone’s scanner application and purchase songs instantly without the need for a laptop or computer.

Active Radio

Active Alerts feature displays federal government alert service in text form on the navigation screen to alert drivers the instant an emergency or severe weather alert is issued and help keep them informed wherever they are.

Artist Experience will deliver album cover artwork, unique images related to played songs and creative station promotions. It will also enable broadcasters to show images synced to traditional audio advertisements. The Clear Channel Network will soon be ready to broadcast this feature to over 100 markets! Currently, the following beta markets will broadcast this feature:

Traffic

  • Traffic alerts appear on-screen as you approach incident locations. You can set up the KW-NT500HDT/KW-NT800HDT to reroute you around these areas.

  • Real-time Traffic alerts as well as free-flow traffic route highlighting appear on-screen as you approach incident locations. You can choose to reroute manually, continue your current route, or have the KW-NT510HDT or KW-NT810HDT automatically reroute you around these areas.

  • JVC’s KW-NT510HDT and KW-NT810HDT provide incident warnings for traffic congestion, road construction, and weather hazards. Once a traffic incident is selected, detailed information can be viewed about the exact location and distance from your current position.

  • Headline News

    Information on National, World, Sports, and Business news downloads automatically. Full news stories can also be selected for reading on-screen.*

  • Sports Scores

    Look up scores from current national sporting events.

  • Weather

    See local/national weather conditions on screen.**
